Prayer is an act of communicating with God. Prayer is a dialogue and not a monologue, hence when you pray, expect to receive and answer from God. We live in an evil world and a prayer less Christian is a powerless Christian. When you don’t pray, you become a prey to the evil ones. Prayer is the life wire of every believer.

The major problem we are having today is not a prayer problem but an answer problem. We have Christian who pray always but the question is, is the answer to those prayers coming? The realm of the spirit is guided by laws. You don’t break those laws and expect answers to come. The problem most Christians have today is crying to the wrong source. The book of Acts 4:12 says “and there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved”. When you cry to the wrong source, you cannot receive answers to your problem.

Below are some things you should never do while praying if you want your prayers to be answered.

1. Lack of faith

Faith is a supernatural gift which enables us to believe without doubting whatever God has revealed. Faith is the only means by which humanity can connect with divinity. It is through faith we can access everything God has promised us right from the beginning of time. In the book of mark 22 and 23 says “ Jesus answered them ‘ have faith in God’. I assure you that whoever tells this hill to get up and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him”. As a Christian, the worst thing you can do is to doubt the ability of God when praying. It is the level of your faith in God that determines what you will receive from him.

2. Pure hand and pure heart

You cannot displease God and expect him to please you. The book of Isaiah 59: 1 and 2 says “behold, the lord’s hand is not shortened at all, that it cannot save, nor his ear dull with deafness that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear”. Stay away from sin and come before God with a pure heart if you want your prayers to be answered.

3. Ungratefulness

Psalm 100: 1 and 2 says “make a joyful noise to the lord, all your lands. Serve the lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing”. God wants you to approach him as a son approaches his father and not with complaints and groaning. When you pray, first of all begin by acknowledging him for all he has done. Even if you feel God has not done anything, the gift of life is something. Don’t complain from the beginning of your prayer till the end. When you acknowledge God for the things he has done, he will do more for you.

4. A heartfelt prayer

For your prayers to be answered you must approach God with this anger that you have been robbed. The book of Matthew 11: 12 says “from the time john preached his message until this very day, the kingdom of heaven has suffered violent attacks and violent men try to seize it”. Don’t approach God in prayers with a weak mentality. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers. Avoid hypocrisy during prayer, stop praying so that people will hear you. A heartfelt prayer is the only prayer that moves heaven, if you are praying and you mind is wandering, then your answers might be delayed.

As you avoid and do these 4 things during prayer, I pray may the almighty God answer you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
